Employee mental health, skills shortages, attracting top talent and creating a healthy working environment for employees are the top challenges faced by human resource professionals in 2022, according to the Irish Workplace Wellness Survey of HR Professionals conducted by Hennelly Finance.
The survey of 470 HR professionals in Ireland revealed ensuring employee work-life balance and attracting employees back to the office were the key challenges in the post-Covid environment, with more than half citing difficulties with teamwork and communication, delivering training and professional development initiatives and maintaining culture among remote and hybrid workers.
When it comes to wellness initiatives, more than 60% of survey participants admitted their organisation does not have a wellness strategy.
75% said limited time and resources hindered their ability to develop a workplace wellness strategy, while more than half were not sure what the strategy should look like.
100% of survey participants cited the financial burden of sick pay as the biggest challenge to arise out of compliance and regulation changes.
Almost 90% responded they have not taken action, or do not have a sufficient understanding of what is required, to meet the government’s auto-enrolment requirements when they become law in January 2024.
The survey results come ahead of Hennelly Finance’s Wellbeing at Work event in November 2022, which returns this year after a hiatus due to the Covid pandemic.
The event will feature some of the nation’s top experts on workplace wellbeing strategy development and employee experience and will deliver HR professionals with tangible tools they can use to create a wellness culture and demonstrate impact on their organisation’s bottom line.
