Established by Helena Hennelly in 2000 in Galway’s city centre and joined by her daughter Ruth in 2007, we’ve grown from strength to strength and celebrate 20 years in business in 2020.

Helena has been involved in the insurance industry since 1987 and is Managing Director. She established Hennelly Finance in the year 2000 following redundancy. Helena has worked in the financial services industry all her working life with the likes of Bank of Ireland, Celtic International and Friends First.
Helena has a wealth of experience within the Industry specialising in Employee Benefits Programmes for the Corporate World, helping clients save for the longest holiday of their lives – retirement, protecting clients biggest asset i.e. their income and ensuring clients are financially protected in the event of a serious illness and/or early demise!
Helena is a Chartered Insurer and is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds the distinction of winning the Best Student of the Year on qualification! Helena continues to lead the Hennelly Finance team who have always strived to be the best in caring for our clients. Outside work Helena loves spending time with her grandchildren, playing piano and enjoys cooking.
Ruth is a Director of the company having joined in 2007, she is the daughter of Helena Hennelly who originally set up the firm in 2000. Ruth graduated from National University of Ireland, 2003 with a master’s in Business Studies (Electronic Commerce). Ruth primarily worked in the IT sector before moving into Financial Services.
She holds a Professional Diploma in Financial Advice (QFA) and a Professional Certificate in General Insurance. Ruth specialises in employee benefit schemes and advising on all aspects of investment planning and retirement planning for individuals and businesses.
Her main focus is on helping clients managing their financial affairs, ensuring that clients have everything in place to meet their current and future financial needs and expectations. Ruth has built up excellent client relations with many clients now referring colleagues, friends and family directly to Ruth. When not working, Ruth is a busy Mum of 3 young children. She also enjoys running and playing hockey with Galway Hockey Club.
Olivia has a strong background in the banking/ financial sector, having previously worked with Bank of Ireland for 17 years. She has experience in both Business and Retail Banking and was awarded Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA) status from the Institute of Bankers in 2007. Olivia completed the Joint Diploma in Financial Service with UCD in 2008.
A key member of the team Olivia ensures that all our operations run smoothly and is very “hands-on”, working in a wide variety of roles in Hennelly Finance. She assists the with compliance and regulatory requirements within the firm. Olivia is responsible for overseeing and supervising the business activities, liaising with life companies & underwriters on behalf our clients on a daily basis.
Olivia has a wide and varied economic knowledge meeting and engaging with clients every day as Business Manager and has an excellent rapport with our clients.
Galway native, Sandra’s area of expertise has been built up over 22 years having previously worked in one of the leading financial services organisations in Galway. Sandra brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to ensure you get the very best in financial advice. Sandra has a wide range of experience in the Financial Services industry and having achieved the QFA designation early on, she went on to achieve the Fellowship (FLIA) designation.
Sandra has considerable experience in all areas of financial planning and supports the advisers, analysing investments and writing financial reports. Sandra ensures that we provide compliant, impartial and service driven advice to our clients. Sandra is an avid dog lover! When she gets any rare spare time she enjoys drawing and oil painting with a particular interest in portraits
Regina is a native of Oranmore, Co. Galway and has over 13 years’ experience working in the Corporate Insurance Sector. Regina has a master’s degree and is CIP qualified. Regina is the Health Insurance and Private Medical Insurance Specialist at Hennelly Finance.
Regina recently joined Hennelly Finance and is enjoying the challenge of helping clients find the most appropriate private medical insurance plan for their specific needs. Regina prides herself on understanding our client’s requirements, making clear recommendations in plain English and helping our clients get the best plan in place without fuss. Regina’s hobbies include walking and helping out on the family farm.
